State Settles Lawsuits Over Girls' Abuse Claims At School

(Honolulu, HI) -- State officials have decided to settle three lawsuits regarding allegations of abuse against three young girls by employees at their school. The parents of the three victims from Kipapa Elementary School sued the school's principal last year, claiming she never did anything to stop the abuse or report it to the authorities. The three victims are all special education students and were said to be physically abused by staff members on campus. That abuse allegedly included being force fed and forced to eat from the trash in classrooms. One victim was said to have been tied down in her classroom as a way to keep her disruptive behavior at a minimum. Terms of the settlement have not been released.
