(Honolulu, HI) -- The investigation continues into the death of a man shot by police officers while driving a car in Pacific Palisades. The Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man shot and killed as 51-year-old James Pickard Jr. They say he died from gunshots to the head and torso. Police say Pickard was a career criminal who had 22 convictions dating back to 1985. Authorities have said Pickard drove at an officer who was trying to approach the stolen vehicle he was in on August 6th. Officers opened fire on the car, saying they feared for their lives. Three officers who opened fire have been placed on paid administrative leave over the incident.
