(Honolulu, HI) -- New color-coded placards that explain a restaurant's health inspection record are going on display at restaurants around the state. The Hawaii State Department of Health began posting the new placards today as part of Hawaii's new "Food Safety Code." The signs will tell diners whether or not a restaurant has passed its most recent health inspection, has received a conditional pass, or has been shut down due to health violations. Officials believe the new signs will help consumers when making their choices on where they want to eat.
