(Honolulu, HI) -- A hostel in the Honolulu area is being slapped with a hefty fine over a worker compensation issue. The Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor has ordered the Pacific Ohana Hostel Corp. to fork over 125-thousand-dollars to nearly 90 employees for back wages. Officials say an investigation found the free lodging the employer provided the workers for labor was insufficient to equate to the state's hourly minimum wage. The hostel is located in the popular Waikiki tourist area on Lemon Road.
