(Big Island, HI) -- Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa may throw a legal wrench into plans to have Puna residents vote later this week. Hanabusa said today she's considering a lawsuit that would block Friday's vote in two Puna precincts that could ultimately decide the race between she and U.S. Senator Brian Schatz in the Democratic primary for Schatz's seat. Hanabusa trails Schatz by over 16-hundred votes. She says she'd like to delay the vote until Big Island residents that are still without power can fully recover from Tropical Storm Iselle. Two precincts in Puna couldn't open last Saturday due to storm damage. They are currently set to open this Friday for people to vote, with the results expected to be announced Friday night.
