(Honolulu, HI) -- Governor Abercrombie is apparently backing out of three debates with his opponent, state Senator David Ige. The "Honolulu Star-Advertiser" reports Abercrombie had initially agreed to AARP Hawaii debates in Maui, Hilo, Kona and Honolulu -- even as some questioned why he would give Ige opportunities to appear with him. Analysts also didn't understand why Abercrombie agreed to the debates when Ige and AARP fought his pension tax. The Abercrombie campaign cited "scheduling difficulties" when it announced the governor would only be at the debate in Kona on July 29th.
