(Honolulu, HI) -- Honolulu fire helicopters are back in service today after they were grounded over concerns about maintenance earlier this week. The fire department and the Honolulu Police Department both grounded all air operations Monday over some issues with Rotor Wing Hawaii, the company that maintains the aircraft for both departments. Fire officials found another company to do the maintenance work and had their copters back up in the air today. However, the HPD is still grounding their aircraft. They hope to have a new vendor to fix their aircraft by the end of the week. Fire officials reported losing confidence with Rotor Wing Hawaii due to internal issues with the company after its owner recently died.
