(Honolulu, HI) -- A former University of Hawaii at Manoa English instructor is being posthumously honored with an endowed scholarship. Her family has established the Edith Stoecklein Suyama Endowed Scholarship for students enrolled in the UHM College of Languages, Linguistics and Literature. Stoecklein taught English in the department for more than 15 years. Before she died in 2009, she shared her desire to start a scholarship fund to help students who are financially struggling to pay for college.
