(Honolulu. HI) -- Former Congressman Charles Djou has picked up a high-profile endorsement in his efforts to once again represent Hawaii in the U.S. House. U.S. Senator John McCain has endorsed Djou in the race for Hawaii's First Congressional District. In a letter sent to supporters and posted on Djou's website, McCain says he's been impressed with Djou's "independence and integrity" as a state legislator, city councilman and congressman. He also is proud of Djou's military service in Afghanistan with the U.S. Army. Djou is running for the House seat given up by Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa, who is running for a U.S. Senate seat. Djou served in Congress for a seven-month stretch in 2010 and 2011 after he won a special election.
