(Honolulu, HI) -- A Honolulu councilman is making a push to make sweepstakes machines illegal on the island of Oahu. Councilmember Joey Manahan tells KHON-TV his office has been getting a slew of complaints about the businesses that operate such machines in his district. He says issues like noise, alleged drug deals and drunken brawls have led him to introduce the bill that would make sweepstakes machines illegal on the island. Owners of the arcades that feature such machines are already crying foul, saying Manahan's bill is too broad and could make childrens' arcade games illegal. Manahan says the machines have been the subject of numerous police raids over the last two years.
