City Council Considers Raising Minimum Age For Buying Tobacco

(Honolulu, HI) -- The Honolulu City Council is considering a bill that would raise the minimum age for buying tobacco. The bill introduced this week by Councilman Stanley Chan would ban anyone under 21-years-old from buying tobacco and electronic cigarettes on Oahu. Currently, the minimum age is 18. If approved, the bill would become law on January 1st.
