(Texas City, TX) -- Crews in Texas are working to contain an oil spill after a barge collided with a bulk carrier in the Houston Ship channel Saturday. The barge containing 168-thousand gallons of fuel oil was being towed by a motor vessel when it was breached in the collision at the mouth of Galveston Bay. It has led to the shutdown of the channel for ships entering and exiting the Gulf of Mexico. Officials aren't sure exactly how much oil spilled out of the breached tank, which has partially sunk. A Coast guard spokesman only called it "a significant discharge" of oil.
