ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. (AP) — A natural gas pipeline is being proposed to connect Tallapoosa County to Florida.
WAKA-TV in Montgomery reports (http://bit.ly/HXDFyH ) the pipeline is part of a more than $3 billion project.
The TV station reports there is another pipeline running near the area that was built in the 1950s. The new project would connect to that route through a compressor station in Alexander City. One nearby resident says he's worried about the noise.
City officials say the pipeline could offer an economic boost for the area in terms of construction jobs as well as tax revenue from the compressor station.
The project must be approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission before construction can begin.
